Leapmotor B03X Europe

Leapmotor has opened order books for the B03X across Europe, adding a compact urban crossover to a lineup that until now consisted primarily of SUVs and the T03 city car. Orders went live this month, with first deliveries expected in autumn. The B03X is the European version of the A10, which launched in China in March this year and by May was already one of the country’s top-selling EVs in the compact segment.

The headline figure is the starting price: €23,400 for the entry Life trim with the smaller battery in France. That puts it just below the €25,000 threshold that unlocks certain national incentives in several European markets, and below most direct competitors in its class. In China, the same car starts from around €9,900 equivalent, so there is a meaningful price gap by the time it reaches Europe, but that is partly because the B03X for Europe will be assembled at the Stellantis plant in Spain, alongside the B05 and B10. Local production keeps it outside the EU’s additional tariffs on Chinese-imported EVs, which is how Leapmotor keeps the sticker competitive.

What Kind of Car Is the B03X?

The B03X is a compact crossover, not quite an SUV and not quite a hatchback. It measures 4,270 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall on a 2,605 mm wheelbase, making it similar in footprint to the Renault 4 E-Tech and slightly shorter than the Ford Puma Gen-E. The elevated seating position and crossover body style give it SUV character without the size. Leapmotor describes it as an Urban Crossover, which is a reasonable description.

The design is clean and contemporary: a front end with a distinctive “smile” LED light signature, flush door handles, a floating roof effect and a full-width taillight at the rear. Six exterior colours will be available at launch. The interior centres on a 14.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, running Leapmotor’s Leap OS 4.0 system with smartphone integration and remote vehicle control.

A notable interior feature is a 106-litre sunken storage compartment under the boot floor, and the rear seat cushions can be tilted upward to create additional cargo space. Leapmotor claims an 88.1% volumetric utilisation rate for the interior, which reflects the fact that the car was designed as an EV from the ground up rather than adapted from a combustion platform.

Battery, Range and Charging

The lineup is kept simple with two trims, Life and Design. Two LFP battery options are available, both using Leapmotor’s CTC 2.0 Plus Cell-to-Chassis integration, which bonds the battery pack into the structure rather than mounting it as a separate unit. This improves rigidity and packaging efficiency.

The 39.8 kWh battery delivers up to 292 km of WLTP range, paired with a 135 kW motor. The 53.0 kWh battery delivers up to 382 km WLTP, paired with a 145 kW motor. Both versions produce 200 Nm of torque, are front-wheel drive, hit 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and top out at 160 km/h.

DC fast charging differs between the two variants. The 39.8 kWh battery accepts up to 100 kW DC. The 53.0 kWh battery accepts up to 133 kW DC, with a 10-80% charge taking around 21 minutes. Both versions support a 30-80% charge in around 16 minutes. AC charging goes up to 11 kW on both variants.

Boot space is 510 litres, which includes a 105-litre GigaBox sunken compartment under the floor. With the rear seats folded, that extends to 1,545 litres. The rear seat cushions can also be tilted up 60 degrees to create additional loading flexibility for longer items.

Prices by Market

Per-market pricing outside Germany and France wasn’t fully confirmed at time of writing. Leapmotor is also offering the B03X on lease from €239 per month with no down payment in Germany. A notable detail from the Italian market: Leapmotor is running a launch promotion of up to €5,000 in combined discounts (€2,000 for private buyers, €2,000 for trade-ins or scrappage, €1,000 for early customers), bringing the entry price to €19,900 in Italy. These promotions are time-limited and market-specific, so the figures below reflect official list prices rather than promotional pricing.

Warranty

Leapmotor’s warranty terms vary slightly by market and by model. Based on official information across European markets, the B03X is expected to follow the similar structure as the B10 and C10, with a vehicle warranty of four years to six years, depending on the market. The battery carries an eight-year warranty across all markets, with mileage limits of 160,000 km (100,000 miles in the UK. Given that the B03X has only just opened orders, the exact European terms hadn’t been published in all markets at time of writing.

It’s worth noting that Leapmotor’s warranty terms are shorter on the vehicle side than several Chinese competitors. BYD offers six years on the vehicle and eight years on the battery to 250,000 km. GAC Aion offers eight years on both vehicle and battery. If warranty length is a deciding factor, it’s worth checking the confirmed terms in your specific market before ordering.

How Does It Fit into the Leapmotor Lineup?

The B03X fills a gap between the T0 and the B10. It also arrives alongside the B05, a C-segment fastback hatchback that opened European orders in spring this year. Between the T03, B03X, B05 and B10, Leapmotor now covers most of the affordable EV market in Europe from city car to mid-size SUV, all built and serviced through the Stellantis network.

One caveat worth repeating from reviews of other Leapmotor models: software usability and ADAS sensitivity have been consistent criticisms across the T03, B10 and B05. Carwow’s B05 review describes the software as “utterly infuriating” and the safety systems as “overly domineering.” These issues are not specific to the B03X, but if the pattern holds, it’s worth knowing about before you buy.
