As June 2025 draws to a close, Geely has formally unveiled the Geely EX5 electric SUV to its European audience, using its global information page to reinforce what had been a well-anticipated arrival. Built on Geely’s award-winning GEA modular EV platform, the EX5 arrives in markets like Norway, Poland, Greece, and other European countries, while keeping the strong momentum towards Australia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

About the Geely EX5

According to Geely’s official global specs, the EX5 measures 4,615 mm long with a 2,750 mm wheelbase and features distinctive “porcelain-inspired” design details that helped it win the prestigious Red Dot Award . Under the sleek exterior is a front-mounted 160 kW motor generating 320 Nm torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds.

Inside, the EX5 offers a 15.4″ infotainment touchscreen powered by Geely’s Flyme Auto interface and a 10.2″ digital instrument cluster, both run by the efficient 7 nm Dragon Eagle‑1 chip. Premium trims enhance comfort with heated and ventilated seats, massage functions, wireless charging, HUD, panoramic sunroof, and an advanced ADAS suite.

Fast-Charging, Range & Design: What Europe Needs

With one of the larger ranges in its price class, class-leading 100 kW charging, and sleek aerodynamic design (Cd 0.269), the EX5 is positioned as a tech-packed, value-focused alternative to pricier rivals. Its design nods to Chinese craftsmanship, marrying elegance with practicality in a package that stands out in European drives .

Europe in Focus: Launch & Availability

Geely is expanding its footprint rapidly, supported by strong presence in Norway, Poland, and Greece, plus complementary dealer networks across Adriatic countries. With a goal of 900 global sales and service outlets by end-2025, Europe is clearly a high-priority region.

The EX5’s combination of award-winning design, long range, and charging speed makes it a compelling mid-size SUV option as Europe seeks value-oriented EVs with real-world usability.

BYD Atto 3: Main Rival in Europe

In the European EV market, the EX5’s clearest competitor is the BYD Atto 3, another Chinese-made electric SUV already well established across the continent.

The Atto 3 also uses LFP Blade battery technology and offers two variants: a 49.9 kWh version with 345 km WLTP range and a 60.5 kWh version with 420 km WLTP range. Its 150 kW (204 hp) motor accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds—slightly slower than the EX5.

However, the EX5 surpasses the Atto 3 in fast-charging capability (100 kW vs. 88 kW) and range (especially in CLTC figures). In terms of infotainment, both feature modern UI systems, though Geely’s Flyme Auto offers tighter integration with the company’s own ecosystem.

Price-wise, both models aim for the mid-range EV buyer. The BYD Atto 3 starts at around €38,000 in most European countries, while the Geely EX5 is expected to land in the €35,000–€39,000 range, depending on battery size and market.
