Xpeng has officially begun delivering the P7+ electric liftback to customers in France, with a starting price of 45,990 euros. According to a LinkedIn post by Brian Gu, Xpeng’s Vice Chairman and President, he personally handed over the keys to the first customer at the Xpeng store in Paris. The car is assembled at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria, which means it avoids the EU’s additional tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. Three trim levels are available, ranging from a rear-wheel-drive standard range variant at 45,990 euros up to an all-wheel-drive performance version at 53,990 euros.

Why the P7+ Is Made in Austria

The P7+ rolls off the production line at Magna Steyr’s facility in Graz, which is one of the most respected contract manufacturing operations in the automotive world. By building the car in Austria, Xpeng sidesteps the additional EU import duties that apply to electric vehicles manufactured in China. Those tariffs, which can add anywhere from 7.8 to 35.3 percent on top of the standard 10 percent rate depending on the brand, have been a significant commercial obstacle for Chinese EV makers looking to compete in Europe at accessible price points. You can read more about how those tariffs work and which brands are affected in our detailed overview of EU tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

Xpeng is not alone in taking this route. The trend of Chinese EV manufacturers producing vehicles in Europe is growing, with several brands exploring local assembly as a way to make their pricing competitive without sacrificing margins. For Xpeng, the Graz strategy gives the P7+ a clear structural advantage on the price sheet.

Xpeng Is Having a Serious Moment in Europe

Brian Gu’s LinkedIn post also mentioned that Xpeng recorded a strong sales month in May 2026 across its European markets. That tracks with what we have been seeing. The brand posted 549 registrations in Germany in March 2026, a record for the brand in that market and a meaningful indicator that European buyers are genuinely warming to the proposition. France is a key market for Xpeng, and starting P7+ deliveries there adds a significant model to a lineup that already includes the G6 and G9 SUVs.

The P7+ is also Xpeng’s most technically ambitious car for Europe so far. It sits on an 800-volt electrical architecture, which puts it in the company of vehicles like the Porsche Taycan and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in terms of charging capability. If you want to see how many electric cars available in Europe currently use 800-volt platforms, we have a full breakdown of 800-volt EVs in Europe. The short answer is that the list is growing, but it is still an exclusive club.

What the Xpeng P7+ Actually Is

The P7+ is a large fastback liftback. At 5,071 mm long, 1,937 mm wide and 1,512 mm tall, it is a proper big car. The 3,000 mm wheelbase gives it genuinely generous rear seat room, and the 573-litre boot expands to 1,931 litres with the rear seats folded. That puts its practicality somewhere between a traditional saloon and an estate, which is exactly what Xpeng is aiming for.

The interior runs an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a windshield head-up display. Front seats are heated, ventilated and massaging as standard across all trims. The active road noise reduction system brings the cabin down to around 26 dB, which is genuinely quiet by any standard.

On the driver assistance side, the car is equipped with Xpeng’s Xpilot Assist system running on the Turing XP5 chip rated at 750 TOPS, supported by 27 perception sensors. It handles adaptive cruise, lane centring, automated lane changes and hands-free parking. Xpeng has also developed LoFIC technology, which you can read about in our dedicated piece on Xpeng’s LoFIC system, as part of its effort to make the driving assistance experience feel more natural in real-world conditions.

Here is how the three French-market variants compare:

VariantMotorBatteryWLTP RangePrice
Standard Range RWD180 kW (241 hp)61.7 kWh455 km45,990 euros
Long Range RWD230 kW (308 hp)74.9 kWh530 km49,990 euros
Performance AWD370 kW (496 hp) 74.9 kWh500 km53,990 euros

One thing worth noting about the AWD Performance variant: according to Xpeng’s Chinese product data, that configuration is not available in the domestic Chinese market. Europe is actually getting an exclusive variant here.

The 800-Volt Charging Architecture

The P7+ uses a full 800-volt silicon carbide platform with a maximum DC charging rate of 350 kW. The official figure from Xpeng is that the Long Range variant can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 12 minutes under ideal conditions using a 446 kW charger. That is fast, really fast, and it is a meaningful answer to one of the persistent concerns buyers raise about long-distance electric car travel.

In practical European terms, most public DC chargers top out at 150 to 300 kW, so real-world charging speeds will typically be lower than the peak figure. But the 800-volt architecture means the car will still charge faster than most 400-volt alternatives when plugged into a capable charger, and it future-proofs the ownership experience as ultra-fast charging infrastructure continues to expand across the continent.

There Is a Current Finance Offer Worth Knowing About

Xpeng France is currently running a leasing promotion specifically on the P7+ Long Range variant. According to the official Xpeng France offer page, the deal is structured as a 48-month long-term rental (LLD) over 40,000 kilometres, with the car priced at a discounted 47,990 euros for this arrangement. The first payment is 6,900 euros, followed by 47 monthly instalments of 580 euros each. The offer is valid for orders placed before 30 June 2026 and is available through participating Xpeng dealers in France. Financing is managed through CGL, Compagnie Générale de Location d’Équipements, part of the Société Générale group.

It is worth talking to a dealer if you are interested, as the monthly figure does not include optional insurance or additional services.

How It Stacks Up Against the Competition

At 45,990 euros for the entry variant, the P7+ is not a budget proposition. It sits in the same price bracket as the Tesla Model Y Long Range and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 77 kWh, and above the Xpeng G6 which starts lower. The argument Xpeng is making with the P7+ is one of scale and specification: this is a significantly larger car than those rivals, with more interior space, a higher-voltage charging system and a feature list that would cost considerably more in a German-branded equivalent.

If you are currently cross-shopping the P7+ against other options in the European market, our comparison of the Xpeng G6 versus the Tesla Model Y gives a useful sense of how Xpeng’s pricing and feature philosophy works in practice, even though the P7+ is a different segment altogether. The 7-year or 160,000-kilometre warranty is also worth factoring in. That is a longer coverage period than most European competitors offer, and it addresses one of the questions buyers often have about committing to a less-established brand.
