Changan has confirmed the Nevo Q05 for European markets, with the launch scheduled for October 2026. It’s the brand’s third electric car for Europe, sitting below the Deepal S05 and S07 in price and targeting a segment that’s already getting crowded with Chinese compact SUVs. The pitch is straightforward: a family-sized compact SUV with CATL batteries, European-influenced design and an entry price that’s meant to undercut the brand’s own larger models.

The Q05 isn’t new to the world. It launched in Thailand in May 2026 at prices equivalent to around €17,000 to €20,000, and it sold 15,814 units in China in April alone, which is a healthy volume for a relatively new model. European pricing hasn’t been announced, and neither has the WLTP range, which is the relevant figure for buyers here rather than the figures from Asian-market testing. More on that below.

Changan has been building out its European presence steadily, and the Q05 is the next piece in a bigger picture. If you want context on the full Changan EV lineup in Europe, that’s covered in its own dedicated article.

Design

The Q05 is 4,435 mm long on a 2,735 mm wheelbase, which puts it in the same size class as the BYD Atto 2 and just below the GAC Aion V. Changan calls the exterior style “Digital Flying Wing 2.0”: a rounded front, a full-width LED daytime running light strip and a closed grille. Five exterior colours are planned: Pine Green, Gold Purple, Moon Silver, Cloud Grey and Cloud White.

Inside, the cabin wraps around a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.17-inch instrument cluster. The boot holds 540 litres with an additional 90-litre underfloor compartment, expanding to 1,380 litres with the rear seats folded. No frunk is mentioned.

One caveat worth flagging: the 540-litre figure seems generous for a car this size. Chinese manufacturers sometimes measure boot volume from floor to roofline rather than using the VDA method standard in Europe, which would inflate the number considerably compared to what you’d see in independent tests. Treat that figure with some scepticism until independent reviewers confirm it.

Battery, Range and Charging

For European markets two battery options are expected: a 40 kWh entry variant and a 52 kWh larger pack supplied by CATL. Both are expected to use LFP chemistry.

The 462 km range figure seems acceptable but it’s not a WLTP number. It’s measured under Chinese CTLC protocol, which tend to be more generous than WLTP. A WLTP equivalent hasn’t been published yet for the European version, unfortunately. Until Changan releases European-spec numbers, treat the 462 km as a rough upper bound rather than an expectation.

What we do know: the Q05 supports 3C fast charging, which allows it to add around 120 km of range in 15 minutes. The motor produces 120 kW (161 hp), 0-100 km/h takes 8.2 seconds and V2L charging at 6.6 kW is included.

How It Fits Into the European Market

The Q05 lands in a segment that already has serious competition. The BYD Atto 2 is probably its most direct rival on dimensions and likely price. The GAC Aion UT at 4,270 mm is slightly smaller but similarly positioned. The Xpeng L03 is larger and more expensive but shows what Chinese brands can achieve when they bring proper European engineering focus to a model.

If the Q05 lands below €30,000 in Europe, it will sit in the most competitive bracket currently on the market. If it comes in above that, it needs to justify the premium against rivals with more established European track records and, in some cases, Euro NCAP ratings already in hand.

Euro NCAP testing hasn’t happened yet. That’s worth flagging because in a crowded segment, the safety rating is one of the clearest ways to differentiate. The Q05 comes with L2 driver assistance as standard including adaptive cruise, lane-keeping and AEB, which is a reasonable baseline. The Changan Europe website will be the place to watch for confirmed pricing and WLTP figures as the October launch approaches.

FAQ

When is the Changan Nevo Q05 launching in Europe?
Changan has confirmed October 2026 as the target for European market entry. Pricing and full European specifications haven’t been announced yet.

What battery does the Nevo Q05 use?
Two options are expected for Europe: a 40 kWh entry variant and a 52 kWh larger pack, both using LFP chemistry from CATL.

What is the range of the Nevo Q05?
The claimed range is 462 km, based on a CLTC protocol. A WLTP figure for the European version hasn’t been published. Expect the WLTP number to be lower for roughly least 20%.

Does the Nevo Q05 have fast charging?
Yes. It supports 3C fast charging, adding around 120 km of range in 15 minutes. V2L external power output at 6.6 kW is also included.

What is the Nevo Q05’s boot space?
540 litres with seats up, plus a 90-litre underfloor compartment. With the rear seats folded, total capacity reaches 1,380 litres. No frunk is mentioned in the specifications.

Has the Nevo Q05 been Euro NCAP tested?
Not yet. Euro NCAP results for the Q05 were not available at the time of writing.
