MG is cutting up to €6,000 off its electric models in Germany right now, and unlike some manufacturer promotions, this one isn’t quietly repackaging money the state already owes buyers. MG Motor Deutschland has said directly that the bonus applies regardless of whether a buyer also claims the state subsidy, and I checked the fine print too. The bonus comes straight from SAIC Motor Deutschland, MG’s German importer, on top of whatever government support a buyer separately qualifies for.
How the Discount Works
MG calls it the MG-EV-Bonus, and it runs from 1 July to 30 September 2026 at participating MG dealers while stock lasts. It knocks €6,000 off the price of any electric model, applied directly whether you pay cash, lease or finance through Arval or BNP Paribas. There’s no income test and no application process, the dealer simply deducts it at the point of sale. It also stacks with Germany’s own 2026 EV subsidy, worth €3,000 to €6,000 depending on household income, which you apply for separately through the BAFA portal after buying. Combined, that’s up to €12,000 off for eligible buyers.

MG4 EV Urban
This is where the bonus lands hardest. The Urban’s Active trim normally costs €24,990, and the flat €6,000 reduction brings it down to €18,990, among the cheapest new EVs in Germany. It runs a 43 kWh LFP battery for around 325 km WLTP and a 110 kW (149 PS) motor, with a larger 54 kWh option extending range to roughly 416 km. If you prioritise price above all else, this is the model that the bonus makes genuinely disruptive. I also think the Urban is the perfect second car for a family and one of the best EVs for someone who has just passed their driving test.
MGS5 EV
MG’s compact SUV starts at €37,990 for the Comfort Standard Range, dropping to €31,990 with the bonus applied. The S5 runs a 49 kWh LFP battery good for 340 km WLTP and a 125 kW (170 PS) motor. Higher Long Range and Luxury trims with a 64 kWh battery and up to 480 km WLTP also qualify, though the €6,000 bonus is a flat amount regardless of trim. MG backs the whole range with a seven year, 160,000 km warranty, among the longest in the segment.
MG4 EV
I don’t understand why the MG4 is so expensive in Germany, but I hope MG’s bonus makes it more attractive to buyers because it’s genuinely a great car. The compact hatchback’s Premium trim carries a 64 kWh LFP battery, a 140 kW (190 PS) rear mounted motor and 452 km WLTP range, listed at €42,990 before the bonus brings it to €36,990. A 77 kWh version with 245 PS and up to 545 km WLTP is also available, alongside the sportier 320 kW XPOWER. All qualify for the same €6,000 reduction, making this MG’s most direct rival to the VW ID.3 on price after the discount.
MGS6 EV
MG’s mid-size SUV enters at €49,990 for the Luxury trim, falling to €43,990 with the bonus. It pairs a 77 kWh NMC battery with a 180 kW (244 PS) rear motor, reaching up to 530 km WLTP, and charges at up to 144 kW DC. A dual motor AWD version with 362 PS trades some range for pace. It’s the largest and longest range car in MG’s current German lineup, and the bonus applies equally across trims.
MG Cyberster
MG’s electric roadster is the outlier here, and the bonus applies to it too. The single motor version lists at €64,990, dropping to €58,990 with the discount. It carries a 77 kWh NMC battery for up to 507 km WLTP, a 250 kW (340 PS) motor, and MG’s signature scissor doors. A 375 kW XPOWER version with all wheel drive is also available. It’s a niche choice next to the SUVs and hatchbacks above, but the same flat €6,000 applies regardless.
