XPeng, a Chinese electric-vehicle manufacturer known for models like the G6 and G9 SUVs, has been expanding its presence across Europe in recent years. The company reports that in September 2025 it delivered 1,598 vehicles across its European markets, up 48.7 % from 1,075 units in August. On a year-on-year basis, sales were up 71.6 % compared with the same month last year.

Much of the growth comes after XPeng entered additional European markets including the UK, Ireland, Iceland and Finland. In particular, the UK recorded 281 units in September—more than five times the August volume of 55 units. Meanwhile, Germany saw 241 units sold, up from just 33 units in September 2024.

Why the Surge And What Drives It

Several factors are behind the uplift in Europe. One key change is XPeng’s strategic move into manufacturing collaboration with Magna Steyr in Austria, which allows it to avoid high EU import tariffs on Chinese-built vehicles. Delivery logistics are improving as well, reducing reliance on long sea shipments from China and thus helping to stabilise supply.

That said, monthly volumes remain modest in absolute terms across Europe, and registrations still fluctuate a lot by market. For example, in the Netherlands XPeng sold only 88 units in September, down 31.8 % on the year. In Denmark, registrations halved compared with a year ago even while increasing sequentially.

What It Means for the European EV Market

XPeng’s growth highlights how Chinese EV brands are steadily gaining ground in Europe, but the path is not without obstacles. The company is still operating with comparatively small volumes and must contend with build-to-order logistics, certification, and after-sales infrastructure across multiple markets.

For European consumers, more choices can mean better value and technological diversity, but it also means paying attention to aspects like warranty, service network, and local charging compatibility. XPeng’s recent surge signals it is increasingly serious about Europe, but the real test will be whether it can scale sustainably across multiple countries while meeting European expectations around brand support and quality.
