Skoda Peaq

Skoda has started series production of the Peaq at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. It’s the biggest and most expensive electric model the brand has ever built, and nearly 8,500 orders were already in by the end of July, before the first customer car even left the factory. Those orders came in as blind reservations, meaning customers signed up without seeing the car in person, since Skoda opened ordering back in June before the Peaq had its full public reveal. Here’s what the car actually offers, based on Skoda’s own specs.

How much range does the Skoda Peaq have?
The rear-wheel drive Peaq 90 offers the longest range at over 640 km (398 miles) WLTP, while the Peaq 60 reaches up to 456 km (283 miles) and the all-wheel drive Peaq 90x exceeds 610 km (379 miles).

Size and boot space

At nearly 4.9 metres long, the Peaq is 116 mm longer than the Kodiaq and over 20 centimetres longer than the Enyaq. The 935 litre boot figure is a standard VDA measurement, taken to the top of the rear seats rather than floor to roofline, so it’s a fair comparison against other cars using the same method. Load it to the roof with an optional divider and you get 1,010 litres, and folding the rear bench down gets you to 2,150 litres. The seven seat version drops to 299 litres with all three rows up, or up to 890 litres with just the third row folded. Nobody has independently tested this yet, including ADAC, since the car only had its full public reveal in June, so these numbers still come straight from Skoda.

Battery and range

Both batteries use NMC chemistry rather than the LFP packs found in some cheaper MEB models, and if you want the background on why that distinction matters, I covered it in my LFP vs NMC explainer. The bigger 91 kWh pack isn’t exclusive to the Peaq either. It’s the same battery already used in the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S, the ID.7 GTS, and the long wheelbase ID. Buzz. One small oddity worth mentioning: charging the Peaq 90 from 10 to 80 percent takes 28 minutes, two minutes slower than Volkswagen quotes for the ID.7 Pro S with what’s supposed to be the same battery. Electrive.com pointed out this gap and suggested Skoda might be sourcing cells from a different supplier than Volkswagen uses, which could explain the slightly slower charging even with identical capacity, though neither company has confirmed that.

How big is the Skoda Peaq’s boot?
The five-seat Peaq offers 935 litres measured to the top of the rear seats, rising to 1,010 litres loaded to the roof, while the seven-seat version drops to 299 litres with all rows in use.

Motors and power

All three versions use a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, the same type Skoda already uses in the Enyaq and Elroq because it’s efficient and responsive. Only the all-wheel drive 90x gets a second motor up front, and that one is an asynchronous motor rather than a permanent magnet type, mainly because it has lower friction losses when it isn’t doing any work, which helps efficiency when the front axle isn’t needed. This isn’t new technology built specifically for the Peaq, it’s the same MEB+ hardware already running in the Enyaq and Elroq, just packaged into a bigger car.

Features and price

The cabin runs on a 13.6 inch vertical touchscreen with Skoda’s Android based system, a 10 inch driver display, and an optional Sonos sound system with 16 speakers. There’s also a Relax Package with massage seats and leg rests, an electrochromic panoramic roof split into nine segments, and flush retracting door handles, a first for the brand. All versions support Vehicle to Load for powering things like e-bikes off the battery, and Vehicle to Home is available too if you have Volkswagen Group’s Ambibox wallbox at home.

Prices in Germany start at €49,900 for the Peaq 60 and go up to €60,400 for the all-wheel drive 90x. The Peaq is Skoda’s fifth electric model overall, following the now discontinued Citigo iV, and its second new electric SUV this year after the smaller Epiq launched in May. Right now the cars coming off the line are heading to dealerships as showroom and test drive units rather than customers directly, which is normal practice for a new model. Dealer showrooms should have cars by the second half of September, and Skoda expects actual customer deliveries to start in November or December, though it hasn’t confirmed an exact date. Andreas Dick, Skoda’s board member for production and logistics, described the Peaq as the pinnacle of the brand’s range in comfort, space and technology, and with close to 8,500 orders already placed sight unseen, it looks like buyers agree.

What battery does the Skoda Peaq use?
The Peaq offers two NMC battery packs, a 63 kWh gross (59 kWh net) unit on the Peaq 60, and a 91 kWh gross (86 kWh net) unit shared with the Volkswagen ID.7 on the Peaq 90 and 90x.
