That title is a bold statement, but saying that Chinese cars will succeed in Europe also was a bold statement a few years ago. And here we are, with Chinese EV manufacturers successfully competing with traditional European carmakers like Volkswagen or Renault. The car that will shine even more when comes to European roads next year is MG Cyberster, a striking electric roadster.
The MG Cyberster is a blend of style, performance, and technology that is sure to turn heads in the summer of 2024. when it hits the European roads.
But MG is a British company, right?
MG was a luxury British carmaker but now is owned by Chinese SAIC Motor, which transformed it into an electric brand. It’s a leading automaker in China. SAIC Motor’s subordinates include IM MOTORS, SAIC Passenger Vehicle Branch, Rising Auto, SAIC Volkswagen (partnership company with German Volkswagen), SAIC General Motors (partnership company with General Motors), SAIC-GM-Wuling, SAIC Maxus, NAVECO, SAIC LDT, and Sunwin. SAIC Motor ranks 84th on the business magazine Fortune’s latest Global 500 list with a total revenue of $110.6 billion. As you can see, SAIC Motor is an automotive giant.
MG Cyberster is coming to Europe
I’ve already written about this car, pointing out the starting price of €60,000 when it comes to Europe. That means this car is going to be significantly cheaper than anything similar European carmakers have to offer. And that’s what the European car market really needs: a well-made electric car with a decent price. Even Opel (aka Vauxhall in the UK), which produces substandard quality cars, is pricing its vehicles ridiculously high.
It’s really a shame that MG can’t offer Cyberster as cheap as in China. There MG Cyberster recently entered the market with a starting price of just €41,300 for the Glamour edition. There are two more variants: Style edition for €43,900, and Pioneer edition for €46,500.
The power behind the MG Cyberster comes 64 kWh battery. Customers should be able to choose an even bigger battery with 77 kWh, providing ranges of 501 km, 520 km, and 580 km for the three respective versions.
