The UEFA Euro 2024 Championship will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. Italy, the reigning champion, will face fierce opposition in its quest to defend the crown. A total of 24 European national teams, including Italy, will compete in 51 games. The final match will be played on July 14 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, where the new (or reigning) champion of Europe will be crowned.
Germany is well known for its modern football stadiums and rich sports culture. It is also a European leader in green energy, pioneering innovative renewable energy solutions and setting ambitious sustainability goals to combat climate change. For this reason, UEFA and Germany chose BYD as an official partner for the upcoming Euro 2024 Championship, promoting a greener and more eco-friendly football competition.
As global leaders in new energy vehicle sales, BYD will facilitate efficient and green transportation solutions during UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany. BYD will offer a diverse range of vehicles to provide sustainable mobility for fans and teams across Europe. Let’s explore what BYD has to offer in support of UEFA’s eco-friendly approach.
BYD Seal
The BYD Seal is an all-electric sedan produced by BYD, and it has reached the finals of the European Car of the Year 2024 award. This battery-powered sedan is currently available in Sweden, Spain, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and the Netherlands. It comes in two versions: the RWD Design (rear-wheel drive) and the AWD Excellence (all-wheel drive sports version).
The RWD Design model features an 82.5 kWh battery and offers a range of up to 570 km. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. BYD Dolphin
The BYD Dolphin is a battery-electric hatchback available in several European countries and is the most affordable EV in BYD’s current European lineup. The Dolphin comes in four versions, though availability varies by market: Active, Boost, Comfort, and Design.
The BYD Dolphin is powered by the BYD Blade Battery (LFP). The Active and Boost models are equipped with a 44.9 kWh battery, while the Comfort and Design models feature a 60.4 kWh battery. The range varies depending on the version: the Active and Boost models can reach up to 340 km and 310 km, respectively, whereas the Comfort and Design models can achieve up to 427 km.
The top speed is generally consistent across models at 160 km/h, except for the Active version, which has a top speed of 150 km/h. All models are front-wheel drive (FWD) and share the same electric motor. For a more detailed description of the BYD Dolphin, click here.
BYD Tang
The BYD Tang is a full-size AWD electric SUV that offers seven seats, with the option to fold flat the 2nd and 3rd rows for increased cargo space. Like other BYD EVs for the European market, the Tang utilizes the new proprietary Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) design that takes up less space than conventional LFP batteries of the same capacity. The Blade Battery also provides enhanced safety against thermal runaway, even in case of damage.
The battery has an 86.4 kWh capacity, and the manufacturer claims it can reach up to 400 km on a single charge, though this can vary based on driving habits. It supports fast charging, allowing it to go from 30% to 80% charge in 30 minutes. The powertrain consists of dual electric motors, offering a combined 510 hp and 680 Nm of torque. Competing directly with the Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7, the BYD Tang offers comparable build quality and luxury but at a significantly lower price. The BYD Atto 3 is a compact SUV known for its spacious interior and is offered in various European countries. It is available in three versions, each characterized by slightly varied equipment options. The car comes with a 8-year warranty on the battery and a six-year warranty on the vehicle as a whole. Just as other BYD electric cars in this article, the BYD Atto 3 is equipped with a range of safety features and has earned the highest 5-star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP.
