The Dongfeng Nammi Box EV marks the most affordable entry from Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor into the European EV market. Dongfeng, one of China’s largest and oldest automotive manufacturers, has a rich history of producing vehicles for brands like Honda, Nissan, and Peugeot-Citroën. With the Nammi sub-brand, Dongfeng aims to carve out a niche in the small electric vehicle (EV) segment, offering a more affordable and practical option for European consumers. The Nammi Box is a compact city car designed to compete with models like the Citroën e-C3, offering a blend of functionality, style, and efficiency.
The Nammi Box EV will be available in a single, well-equipped trim. The standard equipment includes a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, white leather seats, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. A unique feature of the Nammi Box is the ability to recline the front seats flat, allowing them to be used as makeshift beds.
According to the official Dongfeng Swiss Nammi Box webpage, the car has a length of 4.02 m, a width of 1.87 m, and a height of 1.57 m. With a wheelbase of 2.6 m, this car is not small at all. The trunk volume is 326 liters, expanding to 946 liters with the rear seats folded down. The battery has 42.3 kWh capacity and a range of 310 km (WLTP). The motor has 70 kW (95 hp) and enables top speed of 140 km/h. According to this parameters, this might be the ideal city EV: it offers enough interior space for the entire family, and the range is more than enough for a daily commute.
