The BYD Tang has received a comprehensive update for 2024, and it’s more impressive than ever. With sleeker styling, significantly improved range, and faster charging times, this big all-electric SUV from China is gunning for the premium end of the family EV market.
Now featuring BYD’s latest 108.8kWh Blade battery, the new Tang can manage up to 530km on a full charge (WLTP), while DC fast charging at speeds of up to 170kW means you can top up from 30 to 80% in just 30 minutes. Despite its hefty 2.6-tonne weight, dual motors provide 517hp and 700Nm of torque, good for 0–100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. All-wheel drive comes as standard.
Battery | Range (WLTP) | Power |
108,8 kWh | 530 km | 380 Kw (510 hp) |
The 2024 Tang adopts BYD’s updated "Dragon Face" design, with sharper LED headlights and dynamic welcome lighting. It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels and sports a sloping roofline that keeps things looking sporty while maintaining family-friendly practicality.
Inside, there’s an upmarket vibe thanks to quilted Nappa leather seats, a suede-trimmed dashboard, and ambient lighting with 31 colour options. A huge panoramic glass roof and a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen (which switches from landscape to portrait at the touch of a button) make the cabin feel airy and tech-packed.
There’s space for seven, though the third row is best suited for kids or shorter trips. Drop those seats and you’ll get up to 1,655 litres of boot space. Handy features like a 50W wireless phone charger, USB-A and USB-C ports throughout, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support all come as standard.
The front seats are heated, ventilated, and offer massage functionality, while the “Easy Entry” system moves the seat back automatically when you get in or out. There’s also memory for two drivers, three-zone climate control, and a high-end 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.
The Tang is just as clever under the skin. It switches between front-wheel and all-wheel drive depending on the conditions, helping to save energy. It also comes with a heat pump for better efficiency in colder climates and supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), so you can power devices like laptops or e-bikes directly from the car.
The Tang achieved the full 5-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests and comes loaded with advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera.
BYD covers the Tang with a 6-year/150,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/200,000km battery warranty. Service intervals are every 24 months or 30,000km.
Warranty | Duration |
