Great news for BYD: The BYD Seal has made it to the final round of the European Car of the Year 2024 award. This great-looking electric sports sedan just reached European markets and obviously impressed the jury.

The BYD Seal is just the beginning of BYD’s presence in Europe

Europe is the most competitive car market in the world. With reason, because it is the home of the internal combustion engine, and German, French, and Italian cars are highly valued for their reliability and advanced technology. The prestigious Car of the Year award, the most coveted in the automotive industry, also originates from Europe. If you’re not familiar with this car, check out our comprehensive page on BYD Seal.

There were 28 cars selected in total, and BYD Seal is just one of four company cars that were evaluated. BYD Seal, BYD Dolphin, BYD Atto 3, and BYD Han were also considered for the finals. That’s the highest number of the same brand of all selected participants for the Car of the Year 2024 election.

Other finalists

After cars were tested and assessed by all jury members on matters like value for money, design, comfort, safety, technology, and environmental performance. Seven cars were selected for the final, as always. And BYD Seal is one of those, which is a great compliment for the company. Just as a reminder, BYD entered the European market just recently.

Four BYD vehicles were considered for the award, with Seal reaching the finals. That is a testament to the determination and professionalism that BYD invests in every vehicle it makes. That said, the competition has a few aces up their sleeves, too. Besides BYD’s model in the finals, there are the BMW 5 Series, Kia EV9, Peugeot 3008, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR, and Volvo EX30.

The winner of the European Car of the Year 2024 election will be announced on February 26, 2024, at the Geneva Motor Show. Each jury member must then divide 25 points over at least five models, with a maximum of 10 points being awarded to one car.
