Geely EX5

The Geely EX5 is a compact electric SUV designed to offer a straightforward and practical EV package: a usable range, a roomy interior, familiar controls, and a safety record that meets European standards. With its 60.2 kWh battery, single-motor drivetrain and a WLTP range of up to around 430 km depending on trim, the EX5 slots into the increasingly competitive segment of mid-sized electric crossovers appearing in European showrooms.

Design and Size

The EX5’s exterior, with its closed grille, smooth lines, and simple LED lighting, gives it a clean look without leaning too heavily into sci-fi styling. Inside, the cabin prioritizes practicality and convenience. Storage is plentiful, with 33 compartments spread throughout the interior, including spaces under the rear seats and in the center console, as well as deep door pockets with integrated bottle holders.

The car measures 4,615 mm in length and 1,901 mm in width, placing it among the larger options in the compact SUV class. With a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, interior space is generous for both front and rear passengers. The boot provides 461 litres of cargo room, which expands significantly when the rear seats fold flat.

In Euro NCAP testing, the EX5 achieved 5 stars, reflecting solid performance in both occupant protection and active safety systems.

Battery, Power and Range

The EX5 uses a 60.22 kWh LFP battery, which prioritises longevity and stability over outright energy density. LFP chemistry typically copes well with frequent charging and high daily usage, making it suitable for commuters or drivers who prefer predictable charging behaviour. Power comes from a single front-mounted motor producing 160 kW and 320 Nm, giving the EX5 a balanced everyday driving feel: steady acceleration, predictable handling and quiet operation typical of front-wheel-drive EVs.

Charging capabilities are in line with what’s common in this class. The car supports 11 kW AC charging at home or public stations and up to 160 kW on DC fast-chargers. Under ideal conditions, a 30–80% DC charge can take roughly 20 minutes. As always, real-world range will depend on temperature, speed and road conditions, but the EX5’s WLTP estimate places it comfortably within the expectations for a mid-sized family EV.

Trim Levels

The trim structure differs depending on the market. In the UK, buyers can choose from SE, Pro and Max. These follow the familiar progression of equipment: SE as the entry point, Pro adding more comfort and tech, and Max offering the most complete specification.

In Italy, the lineup consists of Pro and Launch Edition. The Pro covers the essentials well, including LED lighting, the main driver-assistance features, heat-pump climate system, 360° camera and a large infotainment screen. The Launch Edition adds extra equipment such as a panoramic roof, upgraded audio and additional comfort features.

In other European markets, like Southeastern Europe, the EX5 is sold in only one trim to simplify the offering.

Warranty Coverage

Geely is offering strong peace of mind for European buyers. The Geely EX5 comes with a 6-year general warranty and an 8-year or 200,000 km battery warranty, whichever comes first. The brand also plans a robust support network across Europe, ensuring that service and maintenance are convenient no matter where you are.
