In response to the European Union’s imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs), Leapmotor has commenced production of its T03 model at Stellantis’ Tychy plant in Poland. This strategic move aims to circumvent the additional duties levied on Chinese-made EVs, ensuring competitive pricing within the European market. The EU’s investigation concluded that Chinese EVs benefited from unfair subsidies, leading to tariffs ranging from 7.8% to 35.3% for various manufacturers. While specific tariff rates for Leapmotor were not detailed, the company is likely subject to these additional duties on top of the existing 10% import tariff.
