The Maxus brand has its roots in the United Kingdom, where the LDV (Leyland DAF Vans) marque was once a well-known player in the commercial vehicle sector. After the collapse of LDV in 2009, Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor acquired the rights to the brand and reintroduced it globally under the new name Maxus. SAIC, one of the world’s largest carmakers and a pioneer in electric mobility, has since transformed Maxus into an international brand specializing in vans, MPVs, and increasingly, passenger cars.

Maxus' European Strategy
SAIC has positioned Maxus as its spearhead for commercial and multi-purpose vehicles in overseas markets, including Europe. The continent has become one of Maxus’s most important regions outside of China. The company is steadily expanding across the continent, entering markets such as the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Scandinavia. With strong incentives for electrification and rapidly growing demand for zero-emission vans, Maxus is gaining traction particularly among commercial customers. At the same time, the introduction of electric people carriers like the MIFA series signals Maxus’s intention to move further into the passenger EV segment.
